Piano Concerto Competition

Each year, St. Cecilia Music Center holds a Piano Concerto Competition for students in grades 6-12. The winner of the competition will play the required piano concerto with SCMC’s top youth orchestra, the Philharmonic, at its winter concert at 7:30pm on Saturday, January 18, 2025.

This year's concerto is: MOZART CONCERTO No 23 K488 Mvt I

REGISTRATION DEADLINE: November 1, 2024 by 5:00pm
COMPETITION DATE: December 7, 2024 | 9am-12pm

Requirements

Contestants Must...

  • be in grades 6-12.
  • not be a previous winner.
  • provide their own second piano accompanist for the competition.

Additional Information

  • The concerto must be memorized.
  • Cadenzas other than the one in the specified edition will be considered.
  • Auditions are closed. Parents and teachers will not be permitted in the audition room. However, a parent or teacher may play the piano reduction of the orchestral part for the soloist.
  • Tape recorders are prohibited in the audition room and adjoining areas.
