What is St. Cecilia Music Center?

St. Cecilia Music Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located in the heart of downtown Grand Rapids. The landmark historic venue features the 600-seat Royce Auditorium and several smaller event spaces. In addition to presenting world-class chamber, jazz, and folk musicians in three unique concert series, SCMC has a robust School of Music and provides music education opportunities for all ages.

Are you a church?

No. SCMC does not have any religious affiliation. When founded in 1883, the organization was named after the patron saint of music, St. Cecilia.

Is there a Lost + Found?

What are your hours of operation?

The Box Office and Administrative Office hours are Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm. On concert days, the building opens at 12pm. To make an appointment to visit the building for a specific purpose, please contact the appropriate staff member.

How do I get tickets to a concert?

Tickets to all performances presented by SCMC can be purchased on our website www.scmcgr.org.

‍Beware of Third-Party Ticket Sellers

It has come to our attention that third-party resale sites are selling tickets to our events. Please note that we have no control over these sellers, who often charge prices above face value.

‍Why you should avoid these sellers:

Higher Prices: Third-party sellers often charge significantly more than the actual ticket cost.
No Guarantee of Authenticity: Tickets from unauthorized sources may be counterfeit or invalid.
No Affiliation with SCMC: SCMC is not affiliated with third-party resellers and cannot guarantee the validity of tickets purchased through them.

I want to purchase tickets but I don't see the event on your website.

SCMC only sells tickets to its own Presenting Series and events. If you’re looking for tickets to an event by another organization (i.e. Grand Rapids Symphony, GRCC, Kent Philharmonic Orchestra), contact that organization directly to purchase tickets.

What happens if I lose my ticket?

We are happy to issue replacement tickets. Please call our Box Office at 616.459.2224 x201 or email Box Office Manager Kelly Herremans at kelly@scmcgr.org.

What happens if the event is postponed or cancelled?

All tickets will be honored for a postponed event. If an event is canceled, refunds will be issued automatically via the original method of payment. If you would like to donate the value of your tickets back to SCMC in lieu of a refund, please communicate with the Box Office (616.459.2224 x201 or kelly@scmcgr.org) and you will receive a tax receipt in the mail.

What is the refund policy for tickets?

All sales are final. No refunds or exchanges are permitted unless the event is canceled.

How do I pick up my tickets at will call?

Tickets may be picked up at the Box Office beginning at 5:30pm on concert evenings. If someone else will be picking up your tickets, please contact the Box Office to make that change. (616.459.2224 x201 or kelly@scmsgr.org)

Do you have a student ticket rate?

Yes! Students may purchase tickets to any of SCMC’s performances for $14 ($10 + ticketing fee). These tickets must be purchased in person at the Box Office and you must present a current student ID.

Is there a minimum age requirement for entry?

No child under the age of 5 will be admitted. All concertgoers 5 years and older must have their own ticket to attend a performance.

Concert Nights

What time do the doors open?

SCMC’s building is open to patrons two hours prior to the concert start time. The doors of the auditorium will open 30 minutes before the performance begins.

Where can I park?

SCMC’s parking lot offers 50 parking spaces on a first come, first served basis two hours before the start of an event. If the lot is full when you arrive, we suggest one of the options detailed here.

Do you recommend any restaraunts in the area?

Yes! There are several great restaurants within walking distance. They tend to fill up quickly on concert nights, so call ahead to make a reservation!

Can I take photos or videos of a performance?

No. Please do not take photos or record while musicians are performing on stage.

Is food or drink allowed in the auditorium?

Aside from water, eating and drinking is prohibited in Royce Auditorium.

Is there a coat check?

No. However, we do have open coat racks--located in the Wege Recital Hall and inner lobby--that you are welcome to use.

I need an accessible entrance. Where do I go?

We have an accessible entrance on the north end of our venue – to the left of the main entrance if you’re facing the building. Once inside, you’ll go down the hallway and enter the main floor of the building via an elevator to your right.

How do I make a donation to St. Cecilia Music Center?

St. Cecilia Music Center is committed to bringing great, affordable music to the community. In fact, ticket sales only cover 50% of what it costs to bring a musician to the stage. Donations cover the difference. Tax-deductible gifts can be made here. For more information on giving to SCMC, contact Development Director Lauren Cooper at 616.459.2224 x205 or lauren@scmcgr.org.

Can I donate my piano to St. Cecilia Music Center?

We do not accept piano donations.
